WRAP ZERO - Sustainability in the production of Film, Television, Commercials and Stills.

WRAP ZERO is a consultancy that promotes and enables resource efficiency, waste reduction and socially responsible decision-making in the production of
film,
TV, commercials and stills. We encourage sustainable business practices based on sound economic principles that measurably reduce a production’s
carbon and environmental footprint.

“We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.” Barack Obama

WHY WRAP ZERO?

Join a growing international movement of responsible businesses in media production. Studios, production houses, suppliers and industry organisations worldwide are already making small changes that bring about big results – benefiting both the environment and the bottom line.

Green production guides, certification systems and industry forums all help to ultimately reduce the negative impacts of film, TV, commercials and stills production. At the same time, it recasts the industry as a tool for positive change.

WrapZERO is the leading sustainable media production consultancy in South Africa. We actively engage with organisations around the world that already practice sustainable production methods, while simultaneously researching local conditions and drawing on local experience to achieve the most sensible and effective interventions within the local context. Is your next production WRAP ZERO?

Our ultimate goal for the film and stills industry is: “What if climate change isn’t only a crisis? What if it’s the best chance we’re ever going to get to build a better world?” Naomi Klein

BE WRAP ZERO

WRAP ZERO provides your team with guidance and support throughout the production process. We PLAN, MANAGE and MEASURE the triple bottom line impact of any studio or production (film, TV, commercial or still), without sacrificing artistic vision, profitability or productivity. WRAP ZERO interventions start with energy, water and waste to landfill, as they all impact on the overall carbon footprint of a production. Full Interventions adapt to requirements and can have a much wider scope. Our services include:
INVESTIGATE, PLAN and EDUCATE

INVESTIGATE, PLAN and EDUCATE

Interactive workshop with key staff to unpack challenges and opportunities, or specific requirements, of either a production or a facility. This can be combined with initial planning and establishing a strategic framework.

MEASURE, MANAGE and REPORT

MEASURE, MANAGE and REPORT

Work with your team to provide guidance around the effective management of resources (energy, waste, water, food, transport, etc), as well as on-site measurement and verification on your road to WrapZERO, including the carbon off-setting of your production. We work across departments and throughout the entire supply chain to identify the most suitable solutions.

INNOVATE

INNOVATE

Innovation is key to lowering your environmental footprint and achieving WRAP ZERO. The WRAP ZERO crew is experienced, resourceful and is networked with suppliers that will help production facilities and productions further reduce their environmental footprint.

SUPPORT STUDIO FACILITIES

SUPPORT STUDIO FACILITIES

Work with facility managers to improve existing processes and practices, based on on-site eco-audits that include the studio’s standard operating procedures and regular supply chain. Work with building and interior design team from the outset of refurbishments or new construction projects to embed sustainability requirements and to source the most appropriate solutions and suppliers from our extensive knowledge base and network.

SUPPORT PRODUCTION TEAMS

SUPPORT PRODUCTION TEAMS

Work with production teams to find suitable service providers, suppliers, products and technology to implement sustainable production processes. Explore innovative alternative solutions to make implementation practical. Integrate sustainable principles and practices into every department at every stage of the production process. This could potentially include diverting useful materials into recycling, repurposing and composting; sourcing and working with suppliers throughout the supply chain to find products and services that are less harmful or has a smaller carbon footprint. Do on-site audits of productions to measure the impact of productions.
